June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. Bowel cancer is Australia’s second deadliest cancer.
Bowel cancer claims the lives of 103 Australians every week (5,354 people a year), but it is one of the most treatable types of cancer when detected early. While the risk of bowel cancer increases with age, it can affect people of all ages.
Red Apple Day (Wednesday, 21st June 2023) is Bowel Cancer Australia’s Annual Giving Day.
Bowel Cancer Australia’s Apple logo defines bowel cancer as treatable and beatable if detected early. Apples are also a nutritious source of dietary fibre.
Screening starts at age 50y for people with no significant family history. Please speak with your GP to arrange your bowel screening.
